Yes, I’ve committed myself — not to an asylum, though I’m sure there are those who feel I belong in one — but to Blogathon 2006. (Geoffrey, quite wisely, will be away gaming at a friend’s house for the duration.)

Once again, I’m blogging on behalf of the Cat Adoption Team, the fabulous no-kill cat shelter which relies entirely on private donations and volunteers to keep its doors open, to spay or neuter every cat under their care, and to find homes for literally thousands of cats a year since 1998! (There were 2,498 adoptions in 2005, and so far this year there have been 1,354 cats & kittens placed in loving homes.)

My precious Zadya and Hasani are both alumni of C.A.T. — Zadya was found badly injured on the roadside and given life-saving medical care by the shelter, and Hasani was rescued from the dirty & overcrowded dwelling of an animal collector. They bring a great deal of joy and laughter and affection to us. A house is not a home until you’ve seen a cat in the window…

My “theme” this year will be music — or, more specifically (and please forgive me if this sounds ponderous), the songs that profoundly impacted my life and what they meant to me then, as well as now. I’ll try to make it fun and interesting, of course! Undoubtably there will be mention of an asshat or two… *grin*
