Weather forecast? *sigh*

This is one of the few drawbacks to vacationing off-season. The weekend weather forecast for Astoria is highs in the mid-50’s with occasional showers possible. If I don’t get at least one semi-dry walk on the beach this weekend, I’ll scream. However, the joy of getting such fantastic deals on the motel & rental car prices should offset any weather disappointments!

Yup, my Number One Internet Fanboy and I are going to the city where The Goonies (one of the stupidest action movies of all time) was filmed. According to the Astoria Visitor’s Guide website, other movies filmed in that town are Kindergarten Cop, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, Short Circuit, Free Willy I and II, and The Ring II.

Sadder yet, I’ve actually seen all those movies (although most of them were not due to my selection, but rather the perils of parenting!).

On the bright side, the town won’t be inundated with tourists yet, which may mean the townspeople will be friendlier and more tolerant of us silly tourist-types. Also, I’ve gotten so good at making travel arrangements that it’s too bad travel agents don’t make much money, because I bet I’d kick ass at it. Not to mention, any day that I don’t have to face dishes & laundry duties is a Good Day!
