You got peanut butter in my chocolate!

If you’re old enough to remember the commercial the entry title comes from: congratulations, you’re old. Anyway, as we wind down to the last Midweek Music Meme question, I’m quickly running out of ideas and hounding my friends & loved ones for questions. This one came from that guy I live with who idolizes Alice Cooper (frightening, isn’t it?):

What two musical genres would you like to see blended?

I personally can’t stand most music genre blend-type-things. I mean, Christian rock? Sucks. Country rock? Usually sucks. Country rap? I tremble in horror at the thought.

Still, I think it would be amusing to listen to some heavy-metal classical. I want to hear some Metallica done by a big-city Symphony Orchestra. *giggle*

I’d like to hear some DMB chanted in Latin.

P.S. All of this meme talk has me a bit dizzy. Have been studying Ken Wilber’s take on memes via spiral dynamics and a few other dudes who really have the handle on memes. The cool part to me is about the meme colors and their significance. The brat boyfriend who just e-mailed me to tell me to “CHILL!” has just earned the title of “Screaming brown Meme with a whiny twang”. He can take his brown meme mass and do as he pleases with it. Me, I’ll stick with my green meme that’s evolving to chartreuse. Aren’t cha glad I don’t have a blog — yet?

I’ve seen Metallica backed up by the San Francisco Symphony - it was quite excellent.

The oddest blend I’ve ever seen was Captain Feathersword singing a Cher song (children’s singer blended with a nearly naked lady?) although he was quite excellent at it as well.

Damn, Jade beat me to it: I have the Metallica S&M CD set, and watched the broadcast version of the concert footage. It was rather nifty. (Six Degrees Moment: Dad went to school with Michael Kamen.)

Other than that, I can’t think of anything that hasn’t already been done…

    My answer is up.

I’d have to say hip hop and rock. I think The Roots did it well in some of their songs on The Seed 2.0 and I loved the tracks on the Jay-Z/Linkin Park collaboration Collision Course.
