I like music, long walks on the beach, and poking dead things with a stick.

 Cast of NotD

Updated 22 Sept 2011

Here are the people who regularly show up in NotD posts…if you’re not on the list and you should be, please don’t feel left out! Just email me & threaten to withhold my coffee.

Household
Geoffrey — My beloved, my best friend, my husband; we met a couple of years before we started dating in the summer of 1999. We moved in together Yule 1999, were handfasted Autumn Equinox 2000, registered as domestic partners Beltane 2002, and got legally married Summer Solstice 2010. One of my Trio of Trusted Advisors, I’m keeping him forever!
Lyse — My best friend, the godmother of my daughters, and one of my Trusted Advisors. Also dubbed the Imperial Princess of Snark. Lives in the Lyse Lair. (Why don’t *I* get a lair?!)
Anxiety — My younger demonspawn, who graduated high school June 2011 (YAY!). Currently job-hunting & keeping her best friend Kia company while Kia waits for a heart transplant.

Critters
Kitties:
Zadya — My old lady kitty. Rescued by CAT, suffering from severe injuries from an (unknown) animal attack, and adopted by my family March 2002. Her name means “little huntress” in Russian.
Hasani — My boy kitty, aka Lap Fungus. Rescued by CAT from an animal collector and adopted by my family May 2004. His name means “handsome” in Arabic.
Michiko — Our cute-manufacturing cat, adopted June 2006 from a neighbor’s litter. Her name means “child of beauty” in Japanese.
Gizmo — Lyse’s grey & white Japanese Bobtail cat; she’s named after the critter in the movie Gremlins. I call her the cabbit, part cat & part rabbit, because she lacks a tail and therefore is not a proper cat at all.
Pyewacket — Lyse’s black cat, adopted from CAT in 2009, named after the witch’s familiar in the movie Bell, Book, and Candle. He has 22 claws (one more on each foot than a normal cat).

Our other pets:
Fido — My boa constrictor. He’s a boy. That name is not my fault.
Bun-Bun — A darling black bunny that we adopted from Robert. He’s spoiled and fearless, and therefore is only allowed out of his cage with supervision so the cats don’t get too interested! Although he has been known to chase the cats, so clearly he’s rather murky on the prey/predator relationship parameters.
Peyo — My (formerly Angst’s) bearded dragon lizard, who was born in Dec. 2006. He’s usually pretty cranky…I think that’s the default setting for lizards.
Caramel, RIP — The Extremely Expensive gerbil, 2007 – 2010. His vet bills made him approximately worth his weight in gold. (Not kidding.) He’s buried in the backyard under a rosemary bush.
Tyrian — My lavender corn snake, hatched Aug 2007.
Kipling — Geoffrey’s ball python, hatched June 2008.

Extended Family
Angst — My elder daughter, whose life is currently in transition all over the place.
Karel — My Number One Internet Fanboy, my boyfriend, and another of my Trusted Advisors. One of the wisest men I know.
Tamara — Geoffrey’s girlfriend, who is unfortunately stuck in Australia for the time being. We’re hoping to abscond with her to the States at some point. :-D
Robert — The World’s Best Ex, and dad to The World’s Cutest Boy!
Claire — The World’s Cutest Wife (married to Robert), and a really good friend of mine. Also mother to the darling Jonathan, who is growing up all too fast.
Kylanath — My boyfriend’s primary girlfriend, another purple-loving Gemini chick, and a really neat friend.
Molly — My friend, and former roommate, and a graduate of the Le Cordon Bleu program at Western Culinary, she’s the Imperial Princess of Food and has many esoteric talents including firedancing & costume design. Wife to Fred and mother to the Lizard.
Brenda — My best friend from high school, and former roommate. Ohgawd, we’ve known each other since autumn of 1983 (yup, we rode dinosaurs to school).
